SUMMER ISSUE
Dear Friend:
I trust this letter finds you all well. The busy days of summer-and yet for many it is a "vacation." Sometimes I think that word needs to be re-defined. Kids are out of school. All the hot spots for vacationers are packed like sardines. It is a great time for families to make wonderful memories. Kids playing in the water; the smell of burgers on the grill; the sound of birds in the early morning singing the songs that God put in them; all of these describe a typical summer.
For me and the Voice of Hope Ministry it is somewhat a "down" time. Oh I could have booked more meetings, but with the schdule of the first 5 months, I chose to limit my preaching to mainly on Sundays and Wednesdays with a few other meetings. I am enjoying being with the family. We took a few days off and took Stacey and her 2 children to Carolina Beach. The kids had never been to the coast and it was a blast. We all had a good time. We got to spend some time with our friends The Mitchells and Pastor and Mrs. David Braddy. He pastors the Cape Fear Baptist Church in Carolina Beach, NC. They are one of our supporters. WE love them so much and it was so much fun to be with them.
I am doing much better physically. My doctors seem to be on the right tract. They changed up my medication in my "spinal pump" and my pain is so much better. I am not ready for a busy Fall. I believe I am good for another million miles or so!
Our support level is the lowest it has been in several years. We have lost some of our support due to the economy. We need to replace that which was lost and also raise some to make up the difference in the increase in the cost of travel. At the present I am praying for 25 new supporters. We have 3 new supporters in the last little while and praying for more to get on board. Make that a real matter of prayer. We want to stay busy for Jesus til' He comes! To do that we must have enough support to keep up traveling.
We thank all of you that pray for us and support us. We could not do it without you. I hope you will continue to pray for me, my family, the ministry of Voice of Hope and the finanical needs. God is faithful and I know He will supply.
We also are going thru a change in personnel. Nathan Crawley, who has been with us for about 1 1/2 years is no longer with me. He recently got engaged to a young girl from Texas. He is now on his own, raising support to launch himself into the ministry of Evangelism and is also preparing for his new bride. Pray for them as they start out their life together. WE are going to miss him for sure.
I hope to see you somewhere along the journey. Come visit us when we are near to you. We covet your prayers. We love you all and depend upon your faithful support. May God bless you all.
